Multipurpose Small Lakes Program

The Multipurpose Small Lakes Program ("MPSL Program") is administered by the Kansas State Conservation Commission and is, currently, in its infancy. In 2007, however, it is expected that the Conservation Commission will make an approximate $3.4 million dollar appropriation to a small lake to test the effectiveness of revitalizing lakes that suffer from TMDL and sedimentation impairments.

Phase I Letter of Interest for MPSL Funding
The City of Horton submitted its Phase I Letter of Interest for the Multipurpose Small Lakes Program funding to the Kansas Conservation Commission on November 1. The funding request made to the Kansas State Conservation Commission was in the amount of $2.6 million, the amount estimated to completely dredge the estimated 1.1 million cubic yards of sediment of Mission Lake.
